Alcoa Foundation Supports flood areas

July 28, 2004 Alcoa Foundation is helping victims of flash flooding in the Sanjo and Mitsuki areas of Japan through a US$10,000 grant to support the Japanese Red Cross (Nihon Sekijuji).

The Sanjo and Mitsuki areas were hit by flash flooding on July 13 that killed 15 people and left serious damage in both communities. In addition, the flood left more than 1,220 people homeless. The Alcoa Foundation grant will be used for medication, household goods, and other materials. Local employees of Alcoa Wheel Products Ltd. in Joetsu, Japan are also making contributions to the disaster relief fund.
