Daniel Cruise Elected Vice President and Officer of Alcoa

NEW YORK--Alcoa (NYSE:AA) announced today that Daniel Cruise has been elected a vice president and officer of the company by Alcoa’s Board of Directors. Mr. Cruise joined Alcoa in 2009 as vice president of Global Public and Government Affairs, responsible for global governmental and regulatory affairs.

“Daniel has been instrumental in advancing Alcoa’s interests across national, regional and local jurisdictions around the world,” said Nicholas Ashooh, Global Vice President, Corporate Affairs. “He has played a leading role in developing business ties in China, particularly through our recent memorandum of understanding with the China Power Investment Corporation, and has been Alcoa’s point person on many other strategic and public policy issues.”

Prior to joining Alcoa, Mr. Cruise was managing director of the Albright Stonebridge Group, a global business advisory group, where he ran the New York office. Previously, he specialized in public affairs, investor relations and financial communications at Clark & Weinstock, a Washington, D.C.-based consultancy.

Mr. Cruise also served at the White House during the Clinton Administration as Assistant Press Secretary for Foreign Affairs and Director of Public Affairs for the National Security Council. Mr. Cruise also served as Director of Public Affairs for the International Trade Administration, U.S. Department of Commerce, where he was spokesperson and senior policy advisor and speechwriter to Under Secretary David Aaron. Prior to his public service, he worked for J. P. Morgan & Company.

Mr. Cruise is a graduate of Brown University, where he founded The Brown Journal of World Affairs. He holds a Master of Philosophy degree in International Relations from the University of Cambridge, England. While there, he served as Editor-in-Chief of The Cambridge Review of International Affairs.

He is Co-Founder and Chairman of the Board of the National Security Network and is a life member of the Council of Foreign Relations. He is a member of the International Policy Committee for the Chamber of Commerce.
